  • J. Block, Homage to Brussels. The art of Belgian posters 1895 1915, New Jersey, 1992.

  • J.-P. Duchesne, L'affiche en Belgique. Art et pouvoir, Brussel, 1989.
A synthesis of the Belgian poster with new points of view: such as the relations to the client, the presentation of the object, the birth of publicity agencies, the changing profile of the designer etc. However the 40 colour plates and 100 black and white illustrations contain nothing new. Serious investigation in printers archives, designers, organisations could have made it a real synthesis, but is now a serious lack.

  • Affiches "Belle Epoque-2".
The big success of the first Vleeshuis poster exhibition was the reason for a sequel. 303 posters were only accompanied by a brochure with just some technical notes. Unfortunately there are diverse defaults about dates and authors.

The 150th birthday of the Kingdom of Belgium was a reason for lots of exhibitions where cultural, commercial and political posters were on show. 152 reproductions (including 46 in full colour) with a short technical note, most of them shown here for the very first time. Never before one could find so much information about Belgian designers, not only from the turn of the century.

  • A. Weill e.a., L'affiche en Belgique 1880-1980, Paris, 1980.

Contemporary posters, a selection of 47 pieces, by Pierre Baudson. Including 10 pages of biographies and bibliographies, the publication was the most useful reference on the subject in those days.

  • Affiches "Belle Epoque".
A catalogue in the Dutch language, a great exhibition with top posters in quality and quantity. 171 posters published in black and white, including a short biography of every artist and an even shorter bibliography. Missing information: no signs of any archive, wrong dates etc. However, for the first time a part of an important international collection was shown with other Antwerp pieces than those seen before in other exhibitions. • Y. Oostens - Wittamer, Art nouveau. Affiches belges. Projets et dessins 1892-1914, Warschau, 1973 e.a.
End of the 60's, early 70's: new interests of creative expressions at the end of the 19th century as a reaction on modernism of the time. The Art Nouveau poster, as a powerful example of this style, draw attention of the public and the museums. The first important collection showed to the public was that of the Brussels Wittamer De Camps. From 1970 till '72 it was seen in the USA, in 1973 in Poland, in 1974 '75 in England.
